Leadership is made-up of choices, then enacted by decisions. Leaders make many decisions daily, but these actions are not formed in an instant. Rather, it is who a leader ‘is,’ the choices made years and sometimes decades prior, that shape a leaders decisions. Put another way, choices are the seeds sown that will later produce the fruit of decisions made. And choices are made on the level of association. So anything or anyone that a leader spends time with and pays attention to will shape their decision making. Most leaders are concerned with decision points, as they should be, but arguably more important is what a leader is consistently watching, reading and who is advising them. Every leader will experience missteps, but a leader’s associations (their choices) is often the difference between recovery or irreparable harm. #LeadWithChoices
