FIRST IMPORTANCE.

A leaders relationships are of first importance. Arguably, nothing amplifies or reduces a leader’s success as much as the people closest to them. And the impact of any relationship is based on its proximity. Some relationships are close; some are more distant. And since everything rises and falls on leadership (Maxwell), it is equally true that a leader's effectiveness rises and falls on the health of their relationships - especially those that are more proximate. Effective leaders consistently inspect the quality of their close associations because a leader’s trajectory is proportional to the nature of their most intimate connections. A few questions can provide a leader with insight: (1) Do the people closest to me share my values; (2) Do my close associations treat people the way that I treat people?; (3) Do my proximate relationships seek my highest good and the highest good of the organization? #LeadWithFirstImportance
