LEADER ‘SHIFT.’

Leaders in every sector recognize that we are living in a time of hyper change. Artificial Intelligence and other rapidly advancing technologies are hurdling us (locally, nationally and globally) to a future that is exciting, yet uncertain - filled with both promise and danger. And while change is a constant in life, shift is based upon an act of the will. Effective leaders understand that ‘change’ without ‘shift’ will always leave individuals, communities and organizations wanting. Within systems, whether shift happens, or not, is often dependent upon leadership clarity, processes and conditions, which serve to enact strategic thinking towards transformation. Stephen Covey explains that part of the difficulty for organizations in making shifts is that many of us, as individuals and leaders, have become “addicted to urgency” - the rush of doing reactive work that is satisfying (and sometimes necessary) but short lived, and, therefore, does not lead to the type of radical progress that can only be achieved by anticipating and responding to emerging environmental changes. #LeadByShift
