PRINCIPLES.

"What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters, compared to what lies within us." (Ralph Waldo Emerson) Principle-centered leaders are guided by value propositions, not popularity, power or position. These leaders understand the saying, "be careful how you treat people, because the same folks you meet on the way up the mountain, you pass by on the way down." We never know who we might be working for or with! Moreover, the most effective leaders understand that 'reputation' can be fleeting and is, therefore, of a lessor order than 'character,' which is persistent and built over time by adhering to principles. Fame may come in a moment, greatness comes with time, but legends are built over a lifetime. Reputation is what people think about a leader, but character is who the leader is when no one else is around, and what a leader's family knows about them. Strategies, methods and techniques will change, but principles remain constant in nature and in life. Principle-centered leaders cultivate habits that improve personal and institutional predictability, reliability and dependability. #LeadWithPrinciples
