TEACHABILITY.

As leaders, we can't know everything, and we need not pretend. In fact, leadership arrogance is a threat to organizational health precisely because intellectual quotient (IQ) is always superseded by collective intelligence (CQ). So the way a leader navigates what they ‘don’t know’ is, more often than not, a greater predictor of ultimate success or failure than what ‘they know.’ In fact, it’s what you and I come to understand after we’ve learned everything that profits us most. (La Fayette Scales) Leadership is exercised on levels and arrived at in stages. Not surprisingly then, the most effective leaders are life-long learners. They recognize that everything they know they have been taught, but they have not been taught everything. A lack of teachability limits a leaders potential because it’s impossible to grow into something we think we’ve already become. #LeadWithTeachability
