Many leaders aspire to 'transformation,' but what exactly is meant by this can be elusive. For those of us that remember the 1980 ‘Transformers’ series theme song, a transformation definition comes easily - it’s “more than meets the eye.” In fact, this isn’t far from the truth. The nature of ‘transformation’ is to change from ‘something seen’ to ‘something formerly unseen.’ Transformation, in essence, is an alteration of both appearance and function. Effective leaders understand that organizational transformation requires an institution to change its expectations, beliefs and behaviors. ‘Statements about change’ absent ‘change actions’ produce superficial results and erode trust. Transformational leaders push themselves and their institutions to align activity with articulation. While it can be challenging to confront and change unproductive or less productive legacy practices, the investment is worth the results. #LeadForTransformation
